Atlas Films is the company name for Rich Remsberg, an Emmy Award-winning archival image researcher, working mainly on PBS documentaries, independent films, and museum exhibits.
And forgoing the awkward third-person description that makes it harder to explain what I do…
The bulk of what I offer is researching archival footage and still photos, but I also provide research in historic maps, rare books, newspapers, and vintage American music. From initial resource surveys to ordering masters and clearing rights, I provide top-level work and organize material in a way that suits your production.
Most of my work can be done remotely, but I can be onsite whenever necessary. I am based in the Berkshires, which gives me easy and regular access to New York and Boston, both to meet with clients and to do research. I usually make three trips a year to the National Archives, Library of Congress, and other Washington, DC institutions, and I have a traveling Archival kit and am ready to work wherever you would like to send me.
